Corcovado National Park

We visit the San Pedrillo Station, the closest of the four stations within the Corcovado National Park.

 

During the tour in the national park you can see monkeys, coatis, squirrels, spiders, limpets, bats, leaf cutter ants, and other animal species. Also, plants and tree species, which are exuberant and full of life.

Corcovado has 2.5% of the planet's biodiversity and has been cataloged as being the only place with great biodiversity in Costa Rica and it is an area of high endemism. Many species of mammals, reptiles, birds and arboreal species including palms are known, of which there are more than 500 of them identified, and especially some endemic trees of the region.

Biological Reserve Caño Island

Isla del Caño is located 28 nautical miles from Ballena Marine National Park, and can be observed minutes after we leave on the boat.

The rock formations are home to numerous species of marine life, many of which you can observe with just a short swim from the beach. You can see countless corals, starfish, sharks, manta rays, fish of various species and colors, as well as dolphins and whales within the respective seasons.

In addition, the island has a small archaeological site with stone spheres, trails that can be observed some species of birds and mammals that are on the island of Caño.

Arqueological Sites Tour

The tour is offered to the different archaeological sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO, in order to make known the most important archaeological sites of the Valle del Diquis region, located in the canton of Osa, Puntarenas.

Two archaeological sites are visited:


1. Archaeological Site Finca 6: it has a small museum, it is the only place that has stone spheres in their original place, mounds of the ancient huts where the ancestors lived, aligned stone spheres.
2. Archaeological Site Batambal: this place is relatively small, it has a beautiful view of the Diquis valley, inside the site there is a tomb, also spheres of stones and a petroglyph.

These tours are possible throughout the year.

Bird Watching

When you arrive in the Uvita area, we tell you that this place is considered to have around 350 different species in a great variety of ecosystems and regions.

One of the points to watch birds will be right in the land area of the Marino Ballena National Park, and our adventure can start with shorebirds: Pelicans, frigatebird, cormorants, white Ibis, seagulls, etc. Then it will be in an area with forest cover where we continue to observe birds such as hummingbirds, tanagers, hawks and other species.

It can be done in the early hours of the morning and in the evenings when the highest activity rates of the birds are given.
